Urban logistics: rethinking the last mile
Delivering to city centres while reducing traffic and pollution thanks to Citylogin.
Citylogin is an urban logistics offer designed by FM Logistic teams in 2014 to meet the environmental constraints of the city of Rome. Thanks to Citylogin, products are routed from our platforms or clients' plants to urban distribution centres, where they are pooled as much as possible with the flow of other clients. Then they are positioned to facilitate immediate in-store display to optimise the delivery time and delivered with low-emissions vehicles. Last-mile delivery is tailored to local constraints and the needs of clients: electric, gas or hybrid utility vehicles, cargo bikes, etc.
In 2017, FM Logistic received the “Urban Logistics” award from “Stratégies Logistique” magazine for the design of this solution. Today, Citylogin is available in twenty cities in Italy, Spain, France, Poland, Russia and shortly in Ukraine.

European cities have already introduced access and circulation restrictions. A trend that is set to grow by 2030.
FM Logistic is an active member of the European ALICE platform, dedicated to innovation in the field of logistics, which brings together academic and institutional experts and representatives of client companies and logistics service providers. Since 2018, FM Logistic has been co-leading the Urban Logistics Working Group, which aims to facilitate a vision of “neutral cities by 2030” through technology solutions that enable optimised and cleaner deliveries.
The challenges of urban delivery
Indian delivery tricycles for clean delivery systems
In India, we work with one of our customers, Waycool, an Indian food products delivery start-up specialised in last-mile deliveries.
FM Logistic has invested in electric vehicles in the scope of a joint goal with this customer to deploy 50 tricycles in one year.
This initiative addresses two urban issues prevalent in India: traffic and air pollution. The vehicle's small size is designed to avoid further congesting India's already dense urban traffic. Electric-powered, it also has a reduced impact on the environment and on public health.

The LEAD project in SpainSince December 2018, the centre of Madrid has become Europe's largest area with restricted access to traffic. With the rise in e-commerce, towns and cities face challenges that continue to generate ever more traffic, air pollution and human health hazards.
Through the LEAD project, FM Logistic provides a concrete response to cities' environmental challenges by reutilising a vacant car park in Madrid for logistical purposes. This solution brings customers different neighbourhood services in the sphere of cosmetics and food, i.e. the products most concerned: storage of products (including fresh and frozen), packaging, city centre distribution using clean vehicles, pick-up of online orders, handling of returns, etc.
FM Logistic, winner of the Reinventing Cities competition in Madrid
After several months of competition, the “Hi Life” project presented by a team formed by FM Logistic, Citylogin, NG Concept and FM Foundation, won the Reinventing Cities competition for La Atalayuela in Madrid.
The Hi Life project was proclaimed winner during the last leg of the competition.
This project's goal is to develop a cross-docking platform, i.e. one where goods can be transferred to vehicles without any intermediary storage, to ensure a more sustainable form of urban distribution and promote micro-logistics using clean vehicles. The project includes the development of 9,000 square metres of green space, 8,000 green roofs, and 13,300 photovoltaic panels.
At FM Logistic, we are focused on continually reinventing the supply chain of tomorrow in our capacity as a company committed to the urban ecosystem.
